Privacy Policy

The short version

Who we are

SeeLI is made by Bad Labs LLC, a Florida company ("we", "us"). We are responsible for the information this policy describes.

This policy covers SeeLI for Mac, SeeLI for iPhone, the SeeLI glasses app, our website, and the services behind them: licenses, away-from-home connections, lock-screen alerts and app updates.

What stays on your devices

SeeLI is software that runs on your own Mac. We don't run servers that hold your work, and there's no SeeLI account to sign up for.

What we handle, and why

Buying a license. Paddle sells SeeLI for us as the "merchant of record": it takes your payment, handles tax, refunds and fraud checks, and collects what that needs (like your name, email, country and card) under its own privacy policy. From Paddle we receive the order number, Paddle's customer ID, what you bought, any refund, and your email address so we can send your key.

Your license key email. We email your key through Resend, which handles your address and the message to deliver it. Afterwards we keep only a one-way fingerprint of your email, so we can resend a lost key to that same address when you ask. We never send marketing emails.

Using your license on a Mac. When you activate, your Mac sends the key, a random ID made just for that Mac, and the app's version. We record that activation and its date, which is how a license covers up to 2 Macs and can be moved to a new one. The random ID isn't your Mac's serial number or name.

Away-from-home connections. When your iPhone is away from home, it and your Mac meet through our service on Cloudflare, which introduces them so they can open a direct, end-to-end encrypted connection. While it does this, the service sees both devices' IP addresses and random connection IDs. It can't read what your devices send each other, and it doesn't keep it. To stop abuse, it keeps an IP address only as a one-way fingerprint, for at most an hour.

Lock-screen alerts. If you allow notifications, your iPhone gives your Mac a notification token. When the AI needs your OK, your Mac asks our service to send an alert, and our service passes the token through Expo to Apple's notification service. The alert has fixed wording, like "Claude needs your OK". It never contains your code, files or what the AI wants to do. Our service doesn't keep the token after sending.

Updates. Once a day, SeeLI for Mac asks updates.badlabs.app whether there's a new version. The request carries your IP address and the app's name and version, nothing else about your Mac. The iPhone app checks Expo's update service the same way, with a random ID for that install.

First-time downloads. The first time you use dictation, SeeLI downloads speech models from Hugging Face. If you set up glasses and agree, it downloads Google's Android tools from Google. Each of them sees your IP address.

Our website shows no ads and sets no tracking cookies. Cloudflare serves it and handles your IP address to do so. Cloudflare also counts page views and measures page speed for us with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and, according to Cloudflare, does not follow visitors over time or collect their personal data. Everything else on the site, including its fonts and the three.js library that draws the 3D glasses, comes from our own site, so no other company receives your visit.

Emails you send us are used to reply to you.

The companies involved

We use these companies to run SeeLI. Each handles only what its job needs, under its own privacy policy. We don't sell or share your personal information with anyone else, or for advertising.

How long we keep things, and your rights

How long we keep things

Why we may use it (for people in Europe and the UK)

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it or stop using it. In Europe and the UK you can also object, ask for a copy to take elsewhere, and complain to your local data protection authority. In California you have the right to know, correct and delete, and we don't sell or share personal information. We won't treat you differently for asking. Email hello@seeli.app, and we'll answer within 30 days.

Children

SeeLI isn't for anyone under 13, or under 16 in Europe. We don't knowingly collect children's information. If you think we have, email us and we'll delete it.

Security

Away-from-home connections are encrypted end to end. License keys and email addresses are kept only as one-way fingerprints. Our services use encrypted (HTTPS) connections.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and its date. For a significant change, we'll also say so in the app.
